Towards an EU-Australia Trade Agreement

Management summary

The idea for an EU-Australia Trade Agreement is building on a long list of successfully negotiated agreements, their common culture and friendly relationship to which both countries have been contributing for many years. There is a window of opportunity for this agreement in the year of the Brexit because a FTA with Australia would minimize its short-term negative impact and boost economic growth for both partners.

Without an agreement Australia would lose it’s access to his 2nd largest trade partner. The European Union would remain stuck in internal affairs, unable to reach out to new markets in the near future. However there are sensitive sectors such as agriculture (EU) and sustainable energy (Australia) requiring special attention and uncommon solutions.
